The Business Analyst Server 10 SP 3 Diagnostic Utility is Available for Download

A Diagnostic Utility is available on the Resource Center to provide more insight into configuration and data issues. It points you to the component of Business Analyst Server that may not be configured correctly and could be causing technical issues. This utility is available here.

Downloading will provide a ZIP file. Extract the contents of the ZIP file to your computer. There is a folder named “Diagnostic Utility” and a Word document named “Diagnostic Utility Info.docx”. Diagnostic Utility Info.docx explains the tests in the Diagnostic Utility. The Diagnostic Utility folder contains the files that make up the Diagnostic Utililty. Right-click on BAServerDiagnosticUtility.exe and choose “Run as Administrator” to guarantee the most accurate results while using the Diagnostic Utility.

It is highly recommended to download this utility and run it before calling Technical Support. It could help reduce the amount of time of your Technical Support call or even point you to the problem and help you resolve the problem on your own.

The Diagnostic Utility was built to help resolve problems that we have encountered. In order to help improve future releases of the Diagnostic Utility, please provide feedback to Technical Support or on the Business Analyst Server Forums.

Esri Business Analyst Server 10 Service Pack 3 is Now Available

Happy GIS Day!

The Esri Business Analyst team is pleased to announce that Service Pack 3 for Business Analyst Server 10 is now available. This service pack contains several improvements including new a new “Map Report” task, support for ArcSDE on Oracle as a Business Analyst Server Repository, maintenance fixes, and more. We recommend that customers using Business Analyst Server 10 download and install this service pack as soon as possible to guarantee the highest-quality experience when working with Business Analyst.

There is also a patch to maintain compatibility between Business Analyst Desktop 10m Service Pack 2 and Business Analyst Server 10 Service Pack 3.

Both downloads are available from the Esri Business Analyst Resource Center.

Uploading Your Custom Data and Report Templates to Business Analyst Server

This entry talks about uploading the custom BDS file and report template, created in earlier posts in this series, to Business Analyst Server. If the data is not already created, you can download the custom report template and the custom BDS from the links provided. This entry is written to help Business Analyst Desktop users upload the data and report template. The information that a Business Analyst Server administrator needs, in order to configure the server to allow for uploading data, is provided in a couple of places. There is a white paper that provides a walk through of the process that will allow for uploading. This information is also a part of the Business Analyst Server Install Guide, Step 7: Required Additional Steps.

New and Improved Business Analyst Server APIs Available on the Resource Center

Check out the updated Flex and Silverlight sample application on the Business Analyst Server Resource Center.  These samples were upgraded to accompany the Business Analyst Server 10.0 Service Pack 2. In addition to using the latest software release, we’ve added the Average Drive Time Report, Match Level Summary Report and Summarize Points Report tasks to the Flex samples with this update.

I recommend taking a look at the new Business Analyst Server Flex and Business Analyst Server Silverlight APIs. They are there to help inspire, instruct and construct your own Business Analyst Server Applications. Follow the links below to the samples:

New Business Analyst Server Knowledge Base Articles: How to Enable Dynamic Content Compression

Due to some responses generated by ArcGIS Server and Business Analyst Server, we have released two new Knowledge Base articles. The articles describe the process of enabling dynamic content compression in Internet Information Services (IIS). One article describes the steps in IIS 6. The other article describes the workflow in IIS 7. During testing of the content of the articles, there was an improvement in performance of ArcGIS Server and Business Analyst Server when Dynamic Content Compression was enabled.
