It is unfortunate that ArcMap 10.6 does not have ECW image support yet. It sounds like this will be added in Q1 of 2018 as a patch or add-on (maybe through ERDAS?).

I agree with Zachary. A huge part of my mapping relies on ECW files. I found out the hard way that these files are not supported. I had to contact ESRI support to help me uninstall 10.6 and reinstall 10.5. This took an hour or so. I hope ECW support is brought back.

ecw support is needed. All 2017 Orto photos of Denmark are in .ecw format, just lost support for that in both ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap.

  4. This is a known issue. Compatible drivers for ECW support were not available by release. We hope to include ECW support in a future update. ECW support is still available in ArcGIS Pro 2.0 and ArcMap 10.5.1.

Unbelievable. You think some kind of warning would be posted before installing 10.6 that doing so will cost you being able to use ECW format aerials. Imagine my surprise when I loaded a map, and the aerial didn’t show. Now, I have to uninstall 10.6 and reinstall 10.5.1. What a waste of time. Why would ESRI release 10.6 as a full, stable version if it doesn’t have all compatible drivers?

Where do I find an updater?
