Quickly share your map using an app

If you want to share your map with others, using configurable apps is easy, and preferable to sharing using the map viewer. But if you need to share a map quickly, you don’t have to take the extra steps to configure, save, and share the application. If the app preview meets your needs, you can “quick share” directly from preview by following these steps:

Step 1. Save and Share your map. To share with others you must share your map publicly, or within your organization. Limit sharing to within your organization only if you want to quick-share privately with another member.

Step 2. Click Create A Web App to view the available app templates.

Step 3. Find the template you want, and click to select it.

Step 4. Click Preview. This opens your map in the default configuration for the template.

Step 5. Copy and paste the URL to quickly share the app with others.

You can email or message it, or use the URL to embed the app in a web site or other app. It’s the quickest way to share your map via an app.

We have many employees who get their ipads updated and I recently updated the operating system to 10.2 on an employees Ipad but the app wouldn’t load completely. I had to delete and revert back to the old GIS app but lost all maps in the process on the ipad. Is there a way to transfer saved maps to another user’s GIS IOS App. I can pull the data from the cloud (dropbox) which is fine but the maps is a different story. Otherwise I will have to manually redo all the maps specifically for this user.

I am not understanding what you mean by “the app won’t load…” and “the old GIS app” and am thinking your issue does not apply to the quick sharing via web apps that this post covers. I’d suggest you contact technical support via support@esri.com or call 1 (888) 377-4575
