Workforce for ArcGIS v1.1 Release (Web)

We are excited to announce the 1.1 release of Workforce for ArcGIS web app. This is the second release of Workforce and it contains some important updates for both Project Owners as well as Dispatchers.

Project Owners

Project owners can search and add mobile workers and/or dispatchers from other organizations to a project.

Simply uncheck the option to “Only search for users in my organization” and then start typing in the Search for a User dialog to quickly locate and add someone. Don’t forget that the user needs to be visible/searchable outside of their organization!

A couple of additional features that you have asked us to support:

  1. When creating new projects, we automatically add the ability to search for workers by name in the mobile app. Previously you would need to go into ArcGIS Online and add support for searching against a layer but now this is done for you.
  2. Location tracks will now be an “opt-in” rather than an “opt-out”. Location tracks are recorded every 30 seconds by default and the service that stores all this data can grow quickly so now we don’t turn this feature on by default.

Dispatchers

For the Dispatcher, we added support for bulk assignment creation. Now you can drag a box and highlight a bunch of assets on the map and then create assignments for all of them at once.

All the highlighted assets appear in the search results and you can select a subset or all of the assets and click Create Assignment. The Create Assignments dialog lists each of the selected assets and you can choose a mobile worker, set a date and time and assign them all at once!

In the Workers tab you can see the status of each mobile worker but it has been difficult to know how long it has been since the worker last updated their status. Well now we will show you how long it has been since they have updated their location.

If the Project Owner adds feature search capabilities to the Dispatcher web map then Dispatchers can take advantage of it!

Now you can type not only a location but also a keyword and if it matches content within the search settings it will display all search results so that you can quickly create new assignments.

Now you can access the Workforce site through HTTPS, keeping your data and temporary identification tokens encrypted.

NOTE: If you were previously using Workforce and have the Security setting “Allow access to the organization through HTTPS only.” under Security in your Organization settings, you will now need to access Workforce by typing “https://workforce.arcgis.com.

Finally, we have localized Workforce! Now the web app is available in the following languages: Chinese—Simplified and Traditional (Hong Kong and Taiwan), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

The Workforce mobile apps are busy in development as well. Workforce on the iOS platform is in certification for the 1.1 release and by the end of 2016 we will release both the Android and Windows 10 versions as well!

Thank you!
