Full motion video (FMV) is designed to integrate geospatially enabled video inside of ArcMap. Video data is often the most current data available to use for situation awareness, change detection and mapping, and emergency management. This data can be used after a disaster to quickly prioritize search and rescue resources, during wildfires to map the perimeter and hot spots, and for public safety. We’ve made it easier to work with video collected by drone enthusiasts with a new video multiplexing tool that combines separate video and metadata files into a single MISB-compliant video file.
In this release, we’ve beefed up the video search capability. If you have a huge collection of videos, you can search by time and location, or for a specific feature of interest. The video search identifies specific video files AND the segment within the video file meeting your search criteria. We’ve also increased the performance capability of the video so you can zoom and pan around the video while maintaining a high level of responsiveness. Video frame capture now supports Jpeg2000 and TIFF image formats for creating video data mosaics. A video mosaic is when you systematically collect frames and then compile those images into a mosaic dataset.
Full Motion Video is a free add-in for ArcMap 10.3 and 10.4. There are previous versions of FMV that will work with versions of ArcMap going back to 10.1.
