In just a few short weeks many of you will be making the trip to San Diego for the 2016 Esri User Conference. The Story Maps team will be in the Showcase Hall to meet with you, and we’ll also be presenting many sessions and workshops. We’re excited to meet with our growing and thriving community of story map authors and developers!

Bring your laptops and story map ingredients, and we’ll help you build some story maps. Esri’s story maps team will walk you step-by-step through the process of building, refining, and publishing a story map. Learn the basics plus tips and tricks to turn your story map into a polished communication product. Please come with a story concept and as much supporting content as you can muster in the form of photos, videos, and web maps. We’ll provide materials to practice building stories if you aren’t able to bring your own.

Story Maps: Great Story Maps and How to Emulate Them
Among the tens of thousands of story maps that are engaging audiences around the world are a small number of efforts that stand head and shoulders above the crowd. We’ll show you a sampling of these great story maps, and use them to give you insider tips and tricks on how to conceptualize a story, how to edit and refine your narrative, and how to go beyond the basics to inform, inspire, and amaze your audience.
Brian Hettler the from Amazon Conservation Team will tell you how the Amazon Conservation Team produced an outstanding Story Map Journal, and Katie Grillo from the City of Cambridge, MA, will describe how she’s recruited story map authors across multiple departments.
