It’s awesome to be able to recognize a handful of developers who immersed themselves inside Esri’s location platform for two straight days. At this year’s Launch Festival 2015 we saw our developer libraries being used in everything from smart car apps telling drivers when they are near electrical charging stations to folks tagging their happy experiences to music venues for friends to discover.
The final $5,000 prize ($2,500 cash + $2,500 ArcGIS Online subscription) went to Alert.Guide. However, it literally came down to a coin toss between Alert.Guide and PriceRangr. Special recognition also goes out to PriceRangr!
There were 100+ plus hacks and over 20 using ArcGIS. For a look at others who spent the weekend creating innovative GIS apps here is the ArcGIS projects listing.
Check out four of the top projects from the 2015 Launch Hackathon:
Alert.Guide – connecting first responders through Twitter.

PriceRangr – real-time pricing for Airbnb hosts.
Developed by Dan Driscoll, Shahriar Sikder, Andrew Kogler, Kaoru Kohashigawa
