The ArcGIS Online team will update the SSL certificates on the ArcGIS Online system (services.arcgisonline.com and server.arcgisonline.com) during a two hour maintenance window starting on Wednesday, August 14th, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. PST. This system hosts the ArcGIS Online basemaps.
This change is not expected to impact most browser-based applications accessing ArcGIS APIs; however, it might impact older Java-based applications because the root certificates available in the JVM are not updated automatically. Once the certificate changes, these older Java-based applications might no longer be able to communicate over HTTPS with the affected sites until their certificate stores are updated.
If you have problems after this update:
- Make sure that the new certificate is part of the certificate store.
