Version 3.2 of both the ArcGIS API for Flex and ArcGIS Viewer for Flex were released on Thursday, March 21. This release introduces new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and more integration with GitHub.
The Geocoder component can now be used in your applications to search your map services as well as a geocoding service. The Viewer now uses this component.
The Directions component supports routing between two or more destinations and provides turn by turn directions. This functionality leverages the new world routing service which requires an ArcGIS Organizational subscription or can be hosted on premise through the ArcGIS Data appliance or Esri Streetmap Premium datasets with ArcGIS for Server. This is showcased in the Viewer through the Directions widget or can be implemented in your own custom API applications.
New configurable layers
The Viewer now supports additional layer types.
Enhancements and bug fixes
Support for more locales, more map attribution (copyrights) including World Imagery, World Street and Ocean map services. The application builder has many new enhancements for configuring new features and various updates to improve configuration options. You can see all the Flex Viewer issues listed on Viewer’s GitHub issues, for example “Issue #12 – Add swatches/legend to the TOC Viewer component“.
You still download the latest ArcGIS API for Flex and the application builder from the resource center, but Viewer and API samples are available as repos on GitHub. Now that we are using GitHub for the day to day operations of the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex, you can follow the issues/changes.
