Explorer Desktop 2012 preview at DevSummit

Over the last couple of days at the 2012 Esri Partner Conference and Developer Summit we’ve had a number of questions about ArcGIS Explorer Desktop and the road ahead. If you’re at the DevSummit this afternoon Mark Bockenhauer and Jim Barry will present and demonstrate some of the new features coming up in the Explorer Desktop 2012 release at theĀ Getting Started with ArcGIS Explorer Desktop SDK session.

Glad to hear of ArcGIS Explorer Desktop enhancements, especially viewing attribute tables. My users have been asking for that feature.

Will we be able to label features in this version. As mentioned on other posts, this is not available in 1500 nor can I find it in 1750 where it was stated by one user: “able to label by feature using the Labels tab in the Layer Properties dialog box”. Where is the Labels tab in the layer properties dialog box? Why not just have a right-click>Label features option like all the other Esri apps? This is the most basic functionality used in GIS, why was it ever left out in the beginning anyway?

Any chance we’ll be able to edit note locations too?? As in Explorer Online? Or will note’s now be transportable between Explorer desktop and Online?
