We are pleased to announce that ArcGIS 10.1 Service Pack 1 (English only) is now available to download. This service pack provides maintenance fixes, performance improvements, software enhancements, and translation updates; all of which will improve the quality of your ArcGIS system. Ever wonder how long your Desktop application takes to render mapped features on a layer to layer basis? Or have you ever needed to know the time it takes to edit mapped features from a particular edit version?
The ArcGIS 10.0 Service Pack 2 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Page Layout Map Surround Patch is now live at the Resource Center.
The patch addresses a crash in ArcMap when opening or savings some map documents in ArcGIS 10.0 SP2. Any map including a map surround that’s been saved to version 9.0/9.1 or 8.3 using “Save a Copy” can trigger the crash. Since there’s no way to know if a document was saved to a previous version, we recommend that all users install this patch.

Last month, we announced the release of the English version of Service Pack 2 for ArcGIS 10.0. We are pleased to announce that Service Pack 2 for ArcGIS 10.0 is now available to download in French, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish.
This release contains performance improvements, maintenance fixes and includes all updates delivered since ArcGIS 10.0.
We recommend that customers using ArcGIS products at version 10.0 or 10.0 SP1 download and install this service pack at their earliest convenience to ensure the highest-quality experience when working with the software.
If you have any questions or run into issues with the installation, please contact Esri Technical Support at 1-888-377-4575, option 2, or visit the Support site. Users outside the United States should contact their local distributor for help.
Customers in the United States can visit the Customer Care Portal for more information about how to get ArcGIS 10 in English, French, German, Neutral Spanish, Japanese or Simplified Chinese. Customers outside the United States should contact their local Esri office for details.
06/30/10 – We had an overwhelming demand for downloads of ArcGIS 10 today. This exceeded our initial estimate for the number of visits to the Esri Customer Care website (http://customers.esri.com ). Due to the increased traffic, our systems could not meet the expectations of our customers this morning. We acted swiftly to resolve the issue and have since increased the available capacity of the Web site to meet the demand. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and we invite you to try downloading again. If you run into any issues, please contact Esri at 1-888-377-4575.

We at Esri have been hard at work for many months to prepare for the ArcGIS 10 release. Today, the day is finally here when we can announce that ArcGIS 10 has been officially released.
For the first time, ArcGIS will be available as a download, which reduces the packaging waste and any delay due to production and shipping. It’s part of Esri’s effort to be a Greener company, and we hope that many of you will participate in this effort by downloading the software. For those that still require a physical disk, there is a way to request to receive backup media on DVD, but it will take a few more weeks (details for this are in the e-mail you will receive from Customer Service).
In the United States, maintenance contacts will receive information by e-mail on how they can download and authorize ArcGIS 10 for their organization. They may also contact Esri Customer Service for questions about their order at 1-888-377-4575 option 5; outside the United States, customers should contact their local Esri Distributor.
Esri Technical Support has been supporting the ArcGIS 10 Beta/Pre-Release for the last 8 months and is ready to take your calls or technical questions related to the 10 Release. If you run into an issue with the download, installation or use of the product, we are here to help. Please contact us at 1-888-377-4575 option 2 or submit a request via the online form. Outside the United States, customers should contact their local Esri Distributor.

We are pleased to announce that the latest release of ArcGIS Explorer is available for download. Among the many improvements and fixes introduced with this release are a new Analysis Gallery that allows easy access to geoprocessing services from ArcGIS Explorer, improved basemaps provide the latest updates from ArcGIS Online, and Symbol Management is now easier with the Symbol Gallery. These are just some of the great new features and functions in this latest release. Check out the ArcGIS Explorer blog for more details about these improvements and others.
Here are a few tips from ESRI Support Services for a successful installation:
- Remember to uninstall version 900 before installing version 1200.
- Visit the system requirements page to make sure your desktop can run the software.
- If you have ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server, or ArcGIS Server Image extension on your machine, stop these programs and services before installing ArcGIS Explorer.
- Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher is required to install ArcGIS Explorer.
As always we wish you happy mapping and appreciate all your feedback.
