Chat with an Analyst

Are you looking for a particular help topic or knowledge base article? Do you just need a quick tip to get started with learning a new topic?

Sometimes waiting for an e-mail response or calling into Support takes more time than you actually need to spend talking with an analyst. The solution has arrived!

Last week, Esri Support Services introduced Chat Support. As quickly as you can fill out a Web form, you can chat with one of our specialists in the technology using an instant message window.

On the Esri Support Center Homepage, click the ‘Chat with an Analyst’ button. Complete the Web form with your customer information. A chat window will appear, and within just a few minutes, an Esri Support Analyst will begin troubleshooting your question. The chat window also features an approximate wait time, so you’ll have an idea when the next Support Analyst will be available.

Once you connect with a Support Analyst, you can send screen shots or other documents using the ‘Attach’ button. You can also request to initiate a screen sharing session using GoToAssist. If your question can’t be answered during the chat conversation, the Support Analyst will continue to help you via phone or e-mail. Every chat is logged as an incident, but now you don’t have to hold the phone to your ear.

If a Support Analyst isn’t available within a few minutes, your question will be automatically logged as a Web form incident, so you don’t have to watch your chat window for hours. A Support Analyst will follow up by e-mail with their best recommendation.

Give Esri Support Services’ new Chat with an Analyst feature a try! It might just turn out to be your favorite way to get in touch with our team.

Go GIS!

In order to get an answer to your question in a timely fashion, either submit a new Support Request with Esri Support Services or call Esri Support Services at 1-888-377-4575. You may also be able to find an answer to your question by using the User Forums. Thanks!

URGENT! – ArcGIS student license problem

    Help!

I’m a graduate student at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, working on earning a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the Department of Geography.

I purchased a one-year student license to ArcGIS from you for $127.98 on 4/7/2010, which I installed in April, 2010. The registration number is EVA885675225.

This past weekend, I installed Norton 360, and did a full system cleanup.

I don’t know if Norton damaged something, but when I tried starting ArcMap, I began getting a strange message “The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the ‘ArcGIS Desktop Evaluation Edition’ disk and click OK’” But putting in my installation disk didn’t help.

To make a very long story short, I went through a complete uninstall of ArcGIS, I manually removed the ArcGIS stuff left after the uninstall, and then reinstalled ArcGIS. I resubmitted my registration, but now when I try to start ArcGIS, I get a pop-up box that says “The ArcEditor license has expired.” and it won’t run.

My environment is ArcMap 9.3.1 (Build 3000), License Type: ArcEditor, running on a Windows XP machine.

I have a final project due this Thursday, 12/2/2010, and desperately need to get ArcGIS running again. Can you please help me?

When this is done, I would also like to find out how to renew my ArcGIS license for the GIS classes I am registered for in the Spring 2011 term.

    Thank you!

    Very best regards,

    -Gary P.

I have 3 ArcMap 10.0 seats, 1 is Primary the other 2 secondary. I was not in when they loaded the new software. They put the licence manager on one station, not a server. Would they run more efficently on each station. When I start ArcMap it takes almost 2 minnutes to load. And it seems to me to be slower in ever aspect.
