Installing AEJEE on Windows Vista

  1. Right-click on the installer and choose Properties.

  1. In the Compatibility tab, check the box next to “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows XP using the pulldown menu. Click on OK.

  2. Double-click on the installer and use the installation wizard to install the program. When installation is complete, you will find AEJEE under All Programs > AEJEE.

How do you click on the installer when the installation wizard is not Microsoft? A compatibility tab does not appear during the installation. What am I doing wrong?

  2. cybele says:

If you are already running the installer wizard, you have gone too far. Cancel out of the installer. In Microsoft Explorer (My Computer) RIGHT-CLICK the on install.exe and choose Properties. After setting the compatibility as described above, THEN double-click installer.exe to run the wizard.

I installed AEJEE using the above instructions and was successful. However, other users logging in do not have AEJEE available on their desktop

  4. dhliwaym says:

Solved by manually creating the shortcut and pointing it to javaw.exe under the different user profiles

We successfully installed AEJEE on some Windows 2007 machines, but then noticed that we can’t open the attribute table or the properties dialogue from the context menu. Any help? I am supposed to teach an intro training next week in this computer lab…

I’m having the same issue as lesliep with the attribute/properties context menus not working!

Update from lesliep: We eventually figured out that you need to follow the process described above BUT when choosing a compatibility mode you might need to choose Windows 2000 or something else. This will vary from system to system. Thanks to Arthur Koziol for asking me to pass along his solution, which is indeed what the IT person helping me last summer eventually figured out!

  8. can’t install AEJEE on windows7 64bit.

Have tried installing in administrator mode.

The install wizard seems to uninstal arcexplorer during the installation proces.

    Any sugestions?
