The Vehicle Check Point Template is available for download
The Vehicle Check Point Template for ArcGIS 10.0 is available for download from Arcgis.com.
This Esri Defense template is designed to help you create a Vehicle Check Point (VCP) plan. The template contains features typically used in developing a VCP plan, including: point features that represent guards, vehicles, searchlights, bushes and trees, signs, and telephones; line features that represent such things as fences, gates, roads, special lanes, lane barriers, speed bumps, ditches, berms, and fighting positions; and polygon features that represent a command post, rest area, latrine, EPW holding area, and equipment storage area. You can add new features to represent other objects as needed.

The downloadable map package contains a finished example map, a map template, and feature templates.
Observation Post Template is available for download
The Observation Post template for ArcGIS 10.0 is available for download from Arcgis.com.
This Esri Defense template is designed to help you create an Observation Post (OP) plan for an infantry company based unit in stability operations. The template contains features typically used in developing a deliberate OP layout plan for a unit conducting stability operations, including: point features that represent vegetation, fire equipment, ground surveillance radar, bushes and trees, an OP tower, and an HLZ location; line features that represent such things as fences, obstacles, roads, power lines, cliffs, protective fences, ditches, berms and walls, and fighting positions; and polygon features that represent outside storage areas for ammunition, fuel, and a dump area, as well living area, mess hall, command bunker, latrine, and shower. You can add new features to represent other objects as needed.

Several defense templates updated for ArcGIS 10.1
The Visibility and Range, Patrol Data Capture, Position Analysis, Helicopter Landing Zone, Imagery, and Scanned Maps templates have been updated for ArcGIS 10.1. The older versions of these templates have been renamed to indicate that they work with version 10.0. The Visibility and Range, Patrol Data Capture, Position Analysis, and Helicopter Landing Zone template have had several small issues fixed, and their geoprocessing tools have been updated to work with ArcGIS 10.1. The tutorial exercises for the Imagery and Scanned Maps basemap templates have been expanded to include information on how to publish the resulting mosaic datasets to ArcGIS for Server.

This Esri Defense template is designed to help you create a lodgment plan for an infantry company sized unit. The template contains features typically used in developing a lodgment plan, including: point features that represent vegetation, OP towers, and an HLZ location; line features that represent such things as fences, obstacles, roads, and power lines; and polygon features that represent maintenance and parking areas, storage facilities for Class III, Class IV, Class V storage, as well as living accommodation, command post, guard posts, and aid stations. You can add new features to represent other objects as needed.
Using the new Elevation Profile app template
With the latest release of ArcGIS Online several new templates have been added to the map viewer template gallery. One of those is the Elevation Profile template which we’ll take a closer look at in this post.
Start with any map, the service providing elevation data is integrated independently into the application template. Below we started with the National Geographic basemap, zoomed to an area south of Rome, and saved and shared the map publicly. Now we can open the map in the Elevation Profile template by choosing Share. Continue reading
3D Virtual City: Philadelphia template updated
Recently, we made changes to some of the Globe services that are referenced by the 3D Virtual City template. These changes improve perfomance and in order to take advantage, you need the latest VirtualCity.3dd Globe document which points to these new services.
