How do I migrate my map books from MPS-Atlas to Data Driven Pages?

In this blog entry we hope to shed some light on the process for migrating your MPS-Atlas map books to data driven pages. But first let’s talk about why you should consider this migration. As many of you might already know, with the release of ArcGIS 10, we added new map book capabilities to ArcGIS Desktop called data driven pages. We also stopped selling MPS-Atlas as a separate extension. However, all of its functionality is still included in Esri Production Mapping. While Esri plans to keep MPS-Atlas as part of Production Mapping for the upcoming release, we will also continue to enhance the capabilities of data driven pages. Since data driven pages offers many advantages including more power, control, and flexibility for your map book workflows we hope you’ll start exploring how to migrate your MPS-Atlas map book workflows to data driven pages.
