The apps team has released an update to the ArcGIS for Windows Phone app that greatly improves its use on Windows Phone 8 devices. You can download the updated app from the Windows Phone Store today!

Best Practices for Building and Sharing Community Web Maps and Apps
Today’s technology has made it easier than ever to effectively share global information with the world. This information can be shared in a variety of ways, including web browsers, mobile devices, and desktop viewers. The Community Maps Team and ArcGIS Online encourage the creation and sharing of content. While sharing content is important, how we share this content may be even more important. Content and information is seldom useful if it is not well crafted and presented clearly. Below are some tips on how one can add value to shared content, ensuring that web maps and apps are engaging and contain the appropriate supporting information.

Version 10.1.1 of ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS now available!
At the start of this new year, we’re happy to announce that a new version of ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS is now available. . This release adds support for commonly requested functionality such as advanced military symbology, secure communication using PKI client certificates, simulating location updates, sorting and grouping query results, and much more. You can download the SDK here.
ArcGIS for Android 2.0.4 Update Available
We have updated the ArcGIS for Android app to address some important bug fixes that address concerns over usability and stability just in time for the Holidays!
Issues addressed in this update:
- NIM084775 – map layers secured with the same credentials will prompt you once to sign in.
- NIM084516 – ArcGIS now fully supports all of the editing options associated with a feature service.
- NIM084565 – we have improved accuracy when using the Measure Tool with different units of measure.

Open the ArcGIS app from the tap of a map!
Using ArcGIS Online it is easy to create and share maps that can be opened in either a web browser or inside the ArcGIS application on your smartphone/tablet device
Sharing a map can be as simple as sharing a link by email. Opening the web browser and a web application from a link is universal. Just simply paste the URL inside of your email and mobile mail clients will recognize it and open the web browser when you tap on it. For example, Ecological Footprints of Nations is a link you can tap on if reading this post on your iPad or Android tablet and it will open up the web browser and point it to http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=1a40fa5cc1ab4569b79f45444d728067. Hurricane Sandy – Damage Survey Reports on your smartphone
With continued support for emergency operations, the Disaster Response Team within Esri has provided ready-to-use Damage Survey templates for use with iPhones, iPads and Android devices. Team Water/Wastewater Meeting
We had a great Team Water meeting this year in San Diego!
Thank you to our presenters: Robert Conrad – Western Municipal Water District, Philip Campman – City of Austin, James Ollerton – Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District, Erik Hoel – Esri, Mike Miller and Howard Crothers – Esri, Jamie Persino – Erie Water Works, Thomas Browne Jr. – Los Angeles County of Public Works, Erin Breen – Innovyze, Srinivas Suryanarayanaiah – Esri, Dave Gilbert & Jonathan Greiner – GeoDecisions and Barry Kelly – Esri Canada. Presentations this year discussed topics such as redistricting, watershed protection, mobile solutions, changes in the geodatabase, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS for Water Utilities, asset maintenance, storm drain management, modeling tools, and Esri’s Production Mapping solution.
