Some of you may have noticed the ArcGIS update already on your iOS devices. We are pleased to announce that ArcGIS for iOS is now compatible with iOS 6.0 and the iPhone 5. For those of you waiting for the ArcGIS for iOS app update before upgrading to iOS 6, the wait is over.
If you haven’t already, please go download the ArcGIS application from the iTunes app store.
Apple recently revealed the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 with much fanfare at their media event on Sep 12th. iOS 6 became available to the general public a week later, and Apple stores started selling the first iPhone 5 devices today. The long lines outside the Apple stores prove once again that Apple has a hit on their hands, and approximately 15% of users had already upgraded their devices to iOS 6 on the first day of its release. It is apparent that users are moving up to iOS 6 and no doubt, they will want to take their apps with them.
On Wednesday September 19th, Apple will release a new version of their mobile operating system (iOS 6.0) ahead of launching new iPhone 5 devices. In certifying the final release seed of iOS 6.0 we have uncovered several problems with the existing ArcGIS application.
If your organization is currently using the ArcGIS application on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch devices we encourage you to wait until we update to the ArcGIS application before upgrading devices to iOS 6. We are finalizing our changes now and anticipate submitting to Apple’s App Store shortly. Once approved you will receive an update notification on your device and we will send out notification with another blog post.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
