We’re pleased to announce the release of the Enterprise GIS Resource Center! This technology-focused Web site is designed primarily for IT professionals and provides unified access to enterprise-related content. The goal is to help you implement a sustainable enterprise GIS with the ArcGIS platform.

We acknowledge that every set of business and technical requirements is unique, so through this resource center we’re presenting guidance in the form of best practices and patterns which can be applied broadly, as well as reference implementations and benchmarks that can serve as a helpful starting point for more in-depth analysis and planning.

Within the Enterprise GIS Resource Center you will find content in the following areas:

• Application Architectures – Learn about the core architecture patterns that can be implemented with the ArcGIS platform, including how the participating software components are layered across physical tiers. For each pattern you may also navigate to real case studies and reference implementations that implement the pattern.

• Performance and Scalability – Learn how infrastructure can affect the performance and scalability of your system, as well as how to optimize and tune the different application patterns. Read about ESRI’s performance testing process, browse actual performance benchmarks, and learn how to conduct tests against your applications.

• Security – Read about ESRI’s approach to security, as well as how the ArcGIS platform can be implemented securely. This section also covers specific security mechanisms such as authentication and encryption, discussing best practices for how they can be utilized across multiple products within the enterprise.

• Implementation Gallery – Here the ESRI Testing teams and Professional Services staff will be posting benchmarks, reference implementations, case studies, and reference material. You can find presentations and videos on the Media Gallery, as well as stay current with the latest trends and updates via the Enterprise GIS blog.

In addition, the Enterprise GIS Resource Center includes numerous links to existing content (both ESRI and non-ESRI) including system requirements, installation instructions, configuration guides, and white papers. It also includes a Community area where you can collaborate with us (ESRI staff) and other users by sharing experiences and lessons learned.
