Over the last couple of months, the team from the Esri R&D centre in Zurich supported a number of very successful CityEngine seminars and training sessions at various distributors in Europe. The seminars focussed on the added value that 3D visualization and procedural geometry creation brings to customers like city planners, architects, engineers, defense, simulation experts and universities. The training sessions were tailored to improve the CityEngine skill set of distributor staff as well and some of their clients.

None of us could imagine the potential of CityEngine and what can be a product in the process of development and design of a city. The information we obtained will be precious for our customers and job opportunities. Flavio Popolizio, Esri Italia

What an eye-opener! During a 3 day training, held in Vienna early in February, a group of curious professionals from Research, Services and Education, with different levels of 3D know-how, got an introduction to CityEngine in general and CGA Shape Grammar. In the end, everyone went home with ideas and a solid foundation to build on – for their individual projects, ranging from modeling energy-efficient cities to planning ski tracks – you name it. Thanks to Matthias Buehler for his patience, enthusiasm and many many impressive samples! G. Doerffel, SynerGIS, Austria.
Last week we held a very successful Esri CityEngine event. The attendants were approximately 200 and they showed great interest for City Engine. With many thanks to Gert Van Maren who did an excellent presentation. Adonis Kontos, Marathon Data Systems, Greece
Around 80 people showed up when the Danish distributor of Esri software, Informi GIS, held a conference on Geodesign, 3D-modeling and urban design. Gert van Maren, Product Management Lead for 3D, introduced CityEngine and showed how quickly and easy it is to create complex 3D simulations from existing 2D GIS data. Rune Homann, InformiGIS, Denmark

I have downloaded CityEngine and have tried to keep up with the tutorials online,
it is truly an amazing GIS Product. Hopefully, there will be some classes that are more
structured available on ESRI’s “Virtual Campus” sometime soon, or is there to be an
Instructor led class that I can sign up for ?
Thanks – CityEngine is Amazing !
Peace.
Kieran
I agree with Kieran in that there needs to be some sort of structured training for CityEngine.
We would really like to see CityEngine seminars in the UK
These sessions look great! Is there any chance that something similar will be planned for the Esri UC in July – or are there any plans for some of these sessions in other regions eg US, or Asia Pacific? Thanks
