Time to refresh your browser, ArcGIS Online has recently been updated. This latest release includes important behind-the-scenes improvements, and also delivers several key updates and new features.

Search from a map now uses enhanced geocoding and gazetteer functions. A new find parameter allows you to enter addresses, partial addresses, place locations, and XY coordinates directly in the map URL. Also included are important enhancements for international users.

Yeah I’ll say it’s been updated! We’re locked out of the admin pages and the public map shared with everyone is asking for username and password.
I’ve done a quick sanity check and everything seems to be in order. I’ve checked several organizations that I administer, and have logged in to several user organizations that have invited me as admin, and I’ve had no problems. I’ve also not had reports from others with any problems. So, this leads me to believe that something has changed on your end – I’d suggest logging a support incident if this has not resolved for you. You can also post to the ArcGIS Online forums:

Thank you for responding and investigating Bern. I’m positive we didn’t change anything on our end. The last edit was 3 hours previous and the public map was verified working at that time (we test the public view as part of the standard procedure on all updates). I have opened a tech support incident.
((curious, I had to log out and back in again before I was allowed to comment))
No worries, happy to help if I can. It’s puzzling to me that you are having such issues, but tech support should be able to figure it out for you.
I am having the same issue with the public shared map asking for a username and password….have you found a solution yet?
If you are using an organizational account, you need to make sure that not just the map, but everything used to author it, is public as well. For example, if one of the layer service items you host is not public, and you use it in a public map, the viewer of that public map will be prompted to login to enable viewing that layer.
The new find parameter works well for the JavaScript viewer, but not ArcGIS Explorer Online. Are there plans to include it in both, or is ArcGIS Explorer Online already frozen on its way to deprecation?
If you could provide specifics on what is not working well for you I can look into the issue and provide a better answer. Explorer Online is actively maintained but is not being actively developed.
Hi,
You wrote Explorer Online is actively maintained but not being actively developped.
Since July we noticed that we cannot filter entities as we were used to.
Refering to http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisexplorer/help/#/Filter_features/015600000059000000/, we cannot find the checkbox “Prompt for value” anymore, while it was very convenient.
Do you have any information about that ?
Thanks,
Helene
