As we near the final release of ArcGIS 10.1 and head into the Esri User Conference season, we wanted to take a minute to tell you about our plans for the ArcGIS for Local Government solution. We’ve got lots of things in motion right now and are working towards a large User Conference release. Here is what we have planned:
1. The release of the new ArcGIS for Local Government Resource Center.
The new resource center includes a completely redesigned landing page and gallery making it easier for you to find maps and apps to leverage in your organization. It also includes a completely redesigned Partner page highlighting Specialty Partners who provide implementation services and apps in the ArcGIS for Local Government ecosystem. More information on the launch of the new resource center can be found here.
2. A FINAL update to every local government map and app currently available for ArcGIS 10.0.
The updates include the latest local government information model, documentation, and updates to each application (new releases of each Add-In and the latest JavaScript and Flex APIs). The updates also include several enhancements and address any bugs that have been submitted to date.
3. The first ArcGIS 10.1 release for each map and app.
This release marks the start of a quarterly
release schedule for the ArcGIS for Local Government solution. We are doing several things to make it easier for you to download and configure the maps and apps for your organization including a single consolidated download, and an online help system. We are also identifying maps and apps that can be deployed with ArcGIS Online hosted services.
4. New maps and apps:
- Emergency Management COP 2.0
- Tax Parcel Viewer 2.0
- Fire Station Wall Map
- Fire Run Book
- Pre-Fire Planning
- Address Crowd-Sourcing
5. Finally, we are retiring the 9.3 maps and apps currently on the resource center.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause users still on the ArcGIS 9.3 platform, but our best practices and design ideas have evolved greatly since we published that work and the value of those contributions has diminished greatly.
Look for more information in the coming weeks as we finish testing and packaging up the new releases. We hope to see you at the User Conference this year where we will have several new tech workshops and opportunities to engage the team including an ArcGIS for Local Government Industry Island and Special Interest Group. We will have more info on our plans for the User Conference in a future blog post.

Will you be updating and providing links to the items above as they are released?
We’ll add them to the ArcGIS.com groups and update the ArcGIS for Local Government Resource Center Gallery when they are available.
