What’s new in ArcGIS Online (February 2012)

The February 2012 ArcGIS Online update has just been released. This latest update includes additions and enhancements as described below, as well as a number of bug fixes and behind-the-scenes improvements.

(Please note that at the time of this post the help has not yet been completely deployed, and as result some of the help topic links in this post may be broken until approximately 3:00 a.m. PST).

Support for multiple languages

ArcGIS Onlein in ItalianThe ArcGIS.com website can now be viewed in different languages. New languages supported are:

  • Arabic
  • Chinese (Simplified Han)
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Russian
  • Spanish

Mapping in ItalianThe ArcGIS.com map viewer and Explorer Online can also be used in different languages.

Language support can be toggled via your browser or setting your preferences in your user profile. Language preferences control the user interface for ArcGIS Online as well as the way time, date, and numerical values are displayed. See Setting language and region for more information.

Regions

Regions control the featured maps on the home page, gallery content, and the default extent for new maps opened in the ArcGIS.com map viewer. The following regions are available: Australia, Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, and World. New and Enhanced App Templates

Several new app templates have been added to the ArcGIS.com map viewer template gallery, including map story templates, a multiviewer template, and an elevation profile template:

Existing templates have been updated to support HTTPS and localization.

ArcGIS Online Subscriptions

A number of enhancements have been made for those participating in the beta program. See What’s new in subscriptions for more information.
