Some folks have reported not being able to load a file geodatabase into CityEngine. This can be related to the version of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables on the machine.
The latest redistributables can be downloaded here:
32bit:

The upcoming CityEngine service release in January 2012 will automatically installed the redistributables.
