SERVICE PACK/ VERSION FIXED INFORMATION NOW INCLUDED in BUGS ONLINE !!

ESRI works hard to address the bugs in our software. As you may already know, you can get dynamic information about logged bugs, through Bugs Online,* a resource that allows you to view the status of a bug on its way to being fixed. But now we’ve gone a step further!

New today, each Bugs Online report provides the service pack & version in which the bugs are…well, fixed!

*New to Bugs Online? Access it by going to Online Support Resources, log in, search by keyword or bug ID, and click Bugs Online among the filters in the search returns.

From those of us working where upgrades are often delayed by months for "internal testing", I say a big THANK YOU!

Nice addition, though I think the ESRI bug tracking system has a long way to go before it becomes truly useful to the user community. It would be very nice if ESRI could add:

1) The ability for the community to vote up bugs that are important to them.

2) The ability for the community to comment on a bug in order to add more information or provide a workaround they may have found.

3) Show the bug status (in progress, resolved, not fixed, etc) on the bug status page for a quick overview of the current state of the bug.

Many systems provide this functionality, such as JIRA. I believe providing an excellent bug tracking and reporting system helps not just the developers, but the user community as well.

Thank you for the suggestions! We are always working to improve our current processes. You will see some of these ideas incorporated in the near future.
