Wondering about the changes to the Support Center web site?

As mentioned in previous posts on this blog, the Support Center home page is being updated to improve usability while retaining familiarity. The first round of improvements is out, and you can expect more improvements in the future.

If this is your first time visiting this blog, please read the Welcome post to learn more about what this blog is (and isn't). Subscribe via RSS and you'll not only stay informed about upcoming changes, but you'll also learn tips and tricks for using the Support Center more effectively, and be able to participate in special community feedback opportunities.

A new survey will appear on the Support Center home page in the next few days, where you'll be able to tell us what you think of the updated home page and banner. In the meantime, take the new home page for a test drive. And, if you haven't already, you may want to read some of my earlier posts to learn about the changes and why they were made.

Hi Jason,

The new updates don't seem to play well with Firefox (I'm at 2.0.0.3).

The search options box won't close (though it thinks it is closed, since the link changes from "close" to "open") and all of the right sidebar content (login, featured areas, contact ESRI support) appear overlapping with the main content.

I don't see anything about browser support in your previous posts. I assume Firefox will be supported?

Thanks,

Hi Sean, thanks for the detailed notes. I know the site has been tested and plays nice with Firefox 1.x; not sure about 2.0.0.3. Information on browser support is available via the link found in the footer at the bottom of the Support Center's pages. That info will tell you we're committed to supporting Firefox 0.8 and higher, so we'll definitely look into the problems you've reported.

Tip: The best way to report problems with the Support Center appearance or operation is to use the Feedback Form: check the "Web Site" checkbox at the top of the form, then report the problem in the Feedback area.

Ok Sean (and anyone else who may be experiencing the same problem), we've double-checked using Firefox 2.0.0.3 and the Support Center home page displays correctly. It may be that your browser is still using an older, cached CSS file. Try this to clear the browser's cache:

Click Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network -> Cache -> "Clear now", then close and restart Firefox.

If that doesn't work, mozillaZine (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Websites_look_wrong) lists some other things to try.
