The target audience for the ArcGIS Mobile instructor-led course is people working in the GIS analyst role. A GIS analyst is a member of the team responsible for designing, creating, and deploying a mobile GIS solution. This person has the following knowledge and skills:
- Hands-on experience with GIS.
- Understands GIS database design principles.
- Can describe common GIS data formats and data relationships.
- Proficient with ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server software.
- Can author maps and edit data in ArcMap, view and manage data in ArcCatalog, and publish map services using ArcCatalog and ArcGIS Server Manager.
- Understands and applies cartographic principles.
- Can generalize data, set layer scale dependencies, and create appropriate feature symbology and map text.
- Understands geodatabase components and structure.
- Can create feature classes, feature datasets, and attribute domains.
- Understands ArcSDE geodatabase user roles and workflows (including versioning and replication).
- Can edit data stored in an ArcSDE geodatabase.
Finally, a GIS analyst understands organizational objectives for the mobile solution, the GIS workflows required to support the mobile solution, and the output that will be derived from the mobile solution.
