At the ESRI UCHere are some helpful planning tips for your trip to the conference.

San Diego International Airport – about 4 miles from the convention center
Most attendees will arrive through the SAN airport close to downtown. It’s easy to arrange round-trip transportation in advance with the airport’s ground transportation services. Also, see San Diego Transit Services.

Getting Around San Diego
Because the airport is close to downtown, and everything you need is nearby, you don’t need a rental car specifically for the conference. You can walk, take the trolley, or hail a pedi-cab. Take a look at area maps and transportation.

For your safety, please be mindful when crossing the trolley tracks and observe all warning signals.

Getting Around the Convention Center
The UC and concurrent events take place at the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC), the Marriott Hotel & Marina next door, and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. The convention center is big, and it can take up to 20 minutes to get from the Marriott to various locations in the SDCC. Know where your meeting rooms are to allow enough time to get there.

Things to See and Do
Lounge on Mission Beach, tour Coronado Island, hike around Point Loma, or take your family to SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo, or Balboa Park. The convention center also offers suggestions for things to see and do all within a few square blocks.

Conference Attire
Business casual attire is recommended for the conference. Daytime temperatures in San Diego can vary, so it works well to dress in layers to ensure comfort in the air-conditioned indoors. Sunblock, sunglasses, and hats are recommended for the outdoors. And be sure to wear comfortable shoes, which are a necessity given the scope of events.

Personal Supplies
On the way to and from area hotels, many attendees will pass the Ralphs supermarket on the corner of 1st and G streets. This is a full-service grocery store and pharmacy and a convenient place to shop for beverages, snacks, and personal items.

Make traveling home easier by checking in for your flight at the SDCC. This convenient service allows you to bypass airport lines by checking your bags and receiving your boarding pass while at the SDCC, leaving you more time to visit the convention floor or take in San Diego.
