As I write, hurricanes once again take top billing in the news. This time, it's Ike, having slammed Grand Turk Island, now heading toward Cuba and then into the Gulf of Mexico. Once again, It's time to see how students and educators can use ArcExplorer Java Edition for Education (AEJEE), ESRI's free, downloadable, dual platform (Win/Mac), lightweight GIS tool, to look at hurricane info.

This blog has had several posts about using AEJEE to look at climate and weather:

Today, I'm using the strategy from 20070910 to look at the past path and a potential future for Hurricane Ike. It's quite a sobering view for those on the islands and near the Gulf shore.

Check out the 20070910 blog entry to see how I made this map, complete with forecast.
