The ArcGIS Code Challenges attracted a number of interactive entries using the ArcGIS Server APIs as well as creative mobile applications built with the ArcGIS Mobile SDK. Congratulations to all the winners!

ArcGIS Code Challenge Voting Rules

People have been asking us if the Code Challenge voting is open to the general public. Unfortunately, the voting is restricted to EDN subscribers, Business Partners, and current/past attendees of the DevSummit who received an e-mail to vote from ESRI. Voting is restricted to one vote per person for each Code Challenge. Multiple votes using the same link (this may be caused by forwarding the voting e-mail) will record only the last submission. Any votes without a voter id will not be counted. If you have any further questions regarding voting e-mail us at devsummit@esri.com.

Get in on the Code Challenges - $16,000 in Cash Prizes Up for Grabs

ESRI is offering $16,000 USD in cash prizes for the DevSummit ArcGIS Server Mashup and ArcGIS Mobile Code Challenges. Share your creativity and expertise with the GIS developer community by submitting original code samples at www.esri.com/devsummit.

The first place prize for the ArcGIS Server Mashup Code Challenge is $7,000, and the second place winner receives $3,000. The first place prize for the ArcGIS Mobile Code Challenge is $4,000, $2,000 for second place.

Participating developers will have the opportunity to review and vote for the top two entries in each challenge based on creativity, applicability, and relevance of each code sample. Entries must be a mobile GIS application developed using the ArcGIS Mobile Software Development Kit (SDK) or a Web mashup built with ArcGIS Server SDKs.

The Code Challenges are open to all developers, including ESRI business partners, as long as the applicant or the applicant's organization is a licensed user of ArcGIS Server 9.2, ArcGIS Server 9.3, or a current ESRI Developer Network (EDN) subscriber.

To enter either challenge, developers need to upload their original code sample to the ArcGIS Server Code Gallery or the ArcGIS Mobile Code Gallery listed under the ESRI Resource Centers.

To qualify, the online entry form must be submitted by March 6, 2009, by 5 p.m. (PST). The developer community will then vote for the first- and second-place winners for each challenge. Winning applications will be announced no later than Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the DevSummit and will be showcased on ESRI.com and the ESRI Resource Centers.
