ArcGIS API for Silverlight / WPF version 1.0 released

The ArcGIS API for Microsoft Silverlight / WPF version 1.0 final has now been released. The release follows an open beta period in which many of you provided your experiences and feedback relating to the API. We thank you for your participation during the beta.

This API allows you to access ESRI maps, data, and analysis tools in applications that you develop with Silverlight and WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation), Microsoft's latest technologies for building interactive Web and desktop applications, respectively.

From today's ESRI news release:

Developers can program with the API without installing any ArcGIS software on their machines as long as they have access to an ArcGIS Server via a URL. Since the API is built on the Microsoft Silverlight framework, developers can take advantage of all the Silverlight components, such as data grids, sliders, panels, and text controls, when building custom applications.

The What's New document describes important changes that occurred during the beta period that may require you to change your existing code.

The ArcGIS API for Silverlight / WPF delivers interactive and flexible mapping components that will help you build great end user experiences. Hope you enjoy it!
